It took 7 weeks to get one tree removed from my yard in Decatur and I'm still annoyed
Back in April I noticed a big water oak leaning toward my neighbor's fence, so I called around for quotes and figured it would be a two week job at most. Turns out the city arborist had to sign off since it was over 24 inches at the base, and that permit alone sat in a queue for 19 days. Then the crew I picked pushed me back twice because of storm cleanup jobs over in Sandy Springs, which I get, but still. We finally got it down on week 7 and the stump grinding tacked on another $350. Honestly the whole thing cost me $2,100 when I budgeted $1,200. Has anyone else dealt with the arborist permit thing or did I just get unlucky with timing?
Man, 7 weeks sounds brutal. My sister went through something like this in Marietta when a pine came down after a storm, and the city made her get a survey done before they'd even look at the permit. The survey cost her almost as much as the tree removal itself.
