Paper charts vs tablet, the tablet almost got me fired twice
I swapped to a digital logbook for my inspection rounds last March and it looked amazing on paper. But the battery died twice during critical site checks at the Port of Tampa and I had zero records for the client. My old paper clipboard never froze, never needed a charge, and worked in the rain without a screen protector. The tablet's GPS tagging was nice but not worth losing 3 hours of work and facing a compliance issue. I'm back to paper and a scanned backup now. Has anyone else gotten burned by going paperless on a job where reliability beats convenience?
