Why does nobody talk about how much faster a Silky saw cuts than a handsaw?
I’ve been using a regular handsaw for pruning jobs for 3 years and finally grabbed a Silky Zubat last month. The difference in cut speed is ridiculous like it slices through a 6 inch branch in 10 seconds flat. Has anyone else switched and noticed a big jump in efficiency on the job?

I mean if you're used to a dull box store handsaw then yeah anything sharp feels fast but a Silky is basically a giant razor blade that dulls fast if you hit dirt or nail a knot. I've seen guys burn through three of them in a season because they cut fast but they chip easy and you can't really sharpen them worth a damn. Plus those aggressive teeth catch and bind on green wood way more than a traditional crosscut saw if you aren't dead straight on your cut.

Different strokes I guess but I've had the opposite experience. Ran a Silky for two full seasons back east on thick red oak and hickory and only swapped the blade once because I let it sit in rain too long. Never chipped a tooth on knots. You gotta let the saw do the work, not muscle it.
