Warning: I still think topping that big maple in Springfield was the right call

Everyone on the crew last week said we should do a full removal, but the owner wanted to keep it for shade. We took 30% off the top to clear the power lines and reduce wind load. Has anyone else had to push back against a full removal when a hard prune felt safer for the tree's spot?

Yeah, because the only thing better than a huge tree by a house is a huge, top-heavy tree by a house... real smart.

Hell yeah, same here. Crown reduction saved that oak for sure.

Honestly, that reminds me of a client who insisted on keeping a huge oak right next to their house. We did a serious crown reduction instead and it's still standing after that last big storm.
