Thought climb spikes were overkill til I tried them on a maple in Kalamazoo last week
I always figured they were a gimmick and my regular gaffs were fine, but a stripped-out section on a big silver maple forced the change. The 2 inch spikes bit in on the slick bark where my old ones kept sliding, and the whole climb felt way less sketchy. Anybody else running spikes on softer bark, or am I late to this?
