Unpopular opinion: the swamp cooler to refrigerated air switch in my NE Heights house was not worth $8,400
Everyone in Albuquerque told me to ditch the swamp cooler the second I bought my house near Montgomery and Tramway. I finally did it 3 years ago, paid $8,400 for a full refrigerated setup, and honestly I miss the old cooler. The swamp cooler ran my July power bill around $110, and now it's closer to $260 from June through September. My house is cooler, sure, but it also feels sealed up and stale in a way the swamp cooler never did. I have talked to 4 neighbors who made the same switch and 3 of them said they would go back if they could. Am I the only one here who thinks the old cooler was the better deal for our dry climate?
