Hit 2,000 square feet of stucco patching and finally got my rhythm down

My 1980s stucco house has been a never-ending project since I bought it three years ago. Last week I finally took a weekend to tally up all the patching I've done on the east and north walls. The number surprised me: 2,400 square feet of stucco repair, which is basically my whole exterior minus the garage. The big game changer was renting a power sprayer for the acrylic finish coat, it went from 4 days of hand rolling to about 6 hours. The weird part is the south wall barely needed any work, so now I'm wondering if it's just sun exposure or if the previous owner's patch job was the issue. Anyone else have a house where one side just crumbles while the other looks fine?

Whoa, 2,400 square feet is a big number, but I gotta ask, are you sure the whole wall needed it? Sometimes we get carried away once we start and end up patching stuff that was honestly fine, just old looking. The south wall thing might just be that it gets less weather, or the previous owner did one decent job over there and the other sides were slapped together by a flipper. Take this with a grain of salt, but sun exposure alone usually isn't the whole story, water from the roof or sprinklers is way more likely the real enemy. Either way, congrats on finally being done, but I'd watch those east and north spots for a year before you call it a win.
