Question about the $800 I dropped on a sump pump backup system that still flooded my basement in Red Deer
I mean, I was dead set against battery backup sump pumps for years. Figured they were just a money grab and my regular pump had run fine for 11 years. Then we got that huge melt in April and the power flickered during the worst of it. I stood in my basement at 2am watching water creep toward my furnace and I couldn't do anything about it. That night cost me about $1,800 in cleanup and a wet vac I had to replace. So I caved and got a backup system installed for $800. Took the guy 6 hours to run the new lines and test everything. Last week the power went out for 4 hours during a storm and that thing kicked on without me even knowing. Came down in the morning and the floor was dry. I was so wrong about these things. Has anyone else had the pump itself fail instead of the power, or am I covered on that front too?
