I get why everyone pushes the expensive toggle bolts, but I keep running into the opposite problem on installs around here. Back in 2017 my old boss in Akron had a whole bucket of those cheap plastic ribbed anchors, and every keypad and motion sensor we hung with them stayed tight for years, no callbacks. Six months ago I switched to steel hollow wall anchors on a hunch they'd be better for a sensor job, and I've already had two of them pull clean out of the drywall. Same installer, same drill, same drywall in a 1970s ranch house, so it isn't my technique. I think the metal ones bite too hard and crumble the paper face, while the plastic ones flex and spread the load out. I already ate the cost of going back to both houses, about $90 in gas and parts. What mounting hardware do you all trust for hollow walls that won't shake loose over time?
