Overheard a new hire question a torque wrench calibration sticker

At the hangar in Tulsa last week, this kid fresh out of A&P school asked why we bother with the 90 day calibration cycle instead of just trusting the click. It got me thinking about how easy it is to get comfortable with the same routine, even when the paperwork says otherwise. Anyone else ever catch themselves ignoring a due date on a tool and then second guessing it after someone else points it out?
