My air fryer basket handle snapped off mid-cook last night

I was pulling out a batch of frozen fries and the plastic handle on my Bella Pro just broke clean off. Some folks online say it's a common weak point and you should just buy a new basket, but others claim you can fix it with a metal bolt and washer. Has anyone actually done a repair like that on a 4 quart model, or is it a lost cause?

Honestly thought those repair ideas were just internet nonsense until my own handle broke. Grabbed a short bolt, a washer, and a nut from the garage, drilled a small hole through the plastic nub, and put it all together. It's been holding strong for months now, way sturdier than the original flimsy plastic. Just make sure the bolt isn't too long so it doesn't scrape the inside of the fryer.

Seriously? That sounds like a total fire hazard waiting to happen. You're putting metal parts right next to a hot appliance that uses oil, which just seems like a bad idea. I'd be way too nervous to try that fix myself.

Aaronwest is right, that metal bolt fix is not nonsense. I did the exact same thing with a stainless steel bolt and it's been fine for over a year. Just keep the hardware short and smooth so it doesn't catch on anything.
